No Generative AI

Sable Paint · Last updated 7 September 2026

Sable Paint is a painting application. Every mark on the canvas is one you made with a brush. This page states, in checkable terms, what the app will and will not do with AI, so you do not have to take it on trust.

No generative image features

Sable Paint does not generate, complete, extend, restyle, or "enhance" images with a model. There is no prompt box, no inpainting, no reference-to-image, no style transfer. The app ships no neural network of any kind. Stylize modes, adjustments, Stamp Forge tips, and the smart selection tool are ordinary signal processing and procedural code, deterministic and seeded. The same input always produces the same result.

Nothing you paint leaves your machine

The app has no analytics, no telemetry, no account, and no cloud. Your paintings, brushes, and references are never uploaded, never seen by us, and never used to train anything, by us or by anyone else. The privacy page lists every case in which the app talks to the network, and none of them carries artwork.

No models trained on other people's art

Because the app ships no models, it ships nothing trained on scraped work. The pigment mixing tables are fitted from paint data, not from images. Brush tips from Stamp Forge are procedural: a tip is a short code, and the same code always forges the same tip.

How it was made

The code was written by one person, with AI coding tools used as an assistant during development, the same way a compiler, a profiler, or a reference book is used. That assistance touched the source code only. It did not touch, and cannot touch, anything you paint. If you consider that a reason not to use the app, that is a fair position.

What would change this page

If a future version ever added a feature that a reasonable person would call generative AI, this page would say so before that version shipped, and the feature would be off by default. We do not currently plan any such feature.
